Mount Nebo was a surprisingly meaningful stop during our time in Jordan. The views across the surrounding landscape were beautiful, and learning about the site's biblical significance made the visit special. I enjoyed the quieter atmosphere before continuing to Madaba and the Dead Sea. It was a wonderful reminder that Jordan has much more to offer than Petra alone.

I particularly enjoyed the day dedicated to the Grand Egyptian Museum. Seeing the ancient artifacts after visiting the Pyramids helped connect everything we had learned about Egyptian history. The collections were fascinating, especially the objects associated with Tutankhamun. It gave our time in Cairo greater depth before we continued to Jordan for another completely different historical experience.

Standing beside the Great Pyramids was something I had dreamed about since childhood. A few days later, walking through Petra felt equally extraordinary. What fascinated me most was how two ancient civilizations developed such impressive monuments using very different architectural techniques. This journey was a wonderful introduction to the history and heritage of both countries.

The Dead Sea was one of the experiences I had been looking forward to most. Floating effortlessly in the salty water felt completely different from swimming anywhere else. The surrounding scenery was beautiful, and it was a lovely change after several days exploring ancient monuments. Combining this natural wonder with historical sightseeing made the Jordan portion especially enjoyable.

We wanted to visit both Egypt and Jordan without planning two completely separate vacations. This itinerary brought together the places we were most excited to see, from the Pyramids of Giza to the ancient city of Petra. I especially enjoyed how different each destination felt. Cairo was full of energy, while Jordan offered dramatic landscapes and fascinating archaeological sites.

I had seen countless photographs of Petra, but nothing prepared me for walking through the narrow Siq and finally seeing the Treasury. The surrounding rock formations were spectacular, and learning about the Nabataean civilization made the visit even more interesting. After exploring Egypt's pyramids earlier in the week, Petra was an incredible final highlight.

Esna is a small stop between Luxor and Edfu, but the colored ceiling inside the temple stayed with me. Our guide pointed out the astronomical scenes and explained how the temple was uncovered below street level. It was calm, short, and very rewarding.

Dahab has a slower, more bohemian feel than the bigger resorts. We snorkeled near the Blue Hole with a guide who looked after the group closely, then ate fresh fish by the water. It was a quiet contrast to our time in Cairo and Luxor.

We based ourselves near the marina and spent the evenings strolling along the promenade with its cafés and seafood restaurants. Mornings were for the reefs, and the airport was only a short drive away, so arriving and leaving were simple. It was an easy, unhurried end to our Egypt itinerary.

Our group had only a handful of travelers, which meant we could ask questions freely and move comfortably through the sites. The guide knew everyone by name by the second day, and the pace never felt rushed. It was a friendly, well-organized way to see Egypt.

The drive into the Western Desert was long but scenic, and Dakhla rewarded us with palm groves, old mud-brick villages and warm hospitality. We loved wandering through the old town of Al-Qasr. It was a peaceful side of Egypt that few of our friends had seen.
